As a senior at NAIA Indiana University-Southeast in New Albany, Ind…Mitchell appeared in three games for the Grenadiers throwing 2.1 innings and allowing three earned runs and striking out two…Before his time at Indiana University-Southeast, Mitchell spent two seasons at division one Alabama A&M where he was a two-way player for the Bulldogs…In his first year as a redshirt sophomore, Mitchell appeared 54 times including 44 starts and hit .265 on the season with 10 RBI and a team high five stolen bases…Mitchell also appeared on the mound 16 times his sophomore year and threw a total of 38 innings with a 9.24 ERA…In his redshirt junior year at Alabama A&M, Mitchell hit .309 for the Bulldogs in the 47 games he appeared in on the offensive side of the game which included leading the teams in doubles with 11…Mitchell also had the second best ERA on the team that season with a 1.86 ERA in 9.2 innings where he struck out nine batters…Mitchell is from Metropolis, Ill. where he graduated from Massac County High School.
