Perakslis enters his first season with the Somerset Patriots and the Atlantic League. He began the 2018 season in Arkansas, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, where he had a 3-1 record and 27 strikeouts over 41.2 innings pitched in 28 games.
Before joining the Mariners, Perakslis spent his entire professional career in the Chicago Cubs organization from the time he was selected by the team in the 21st round of the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft.
The Abington, Massachusetts native split time between Double-A and Triple-A last season and finished with a combined 5-3 record, a 3.19 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 73.1 innings pitched in 34 games.
For his career, which includes two seasons of Triple-A service, Perakslis has a 24-18 record, a 3.94 ERA, 16 saves and 303 strikeouts over 402 innings pitched in 209 games.
He is expected to start the early game of Somerset’s day-night doubleheader against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday.
