Melvin Dorta has played ten years of minor league baseball in five different organizations.  Originally an undrafted free agent signed by the Boston Red Sox in 1998, Dorta tasted the big leagues in 2006 with the Washington Nationals appearing in 15 games and hitting .211.  Dorta has advanced to AAA in four different organizations and has a career batting average of .263 in the minor leagues.  This will be his first season in the Atlantic League.
