Jonathan Piron (pronounced "peer-RONE") is in his first season with Gateway and his sixth as a professional.

Piron spent the previous five years in the Colorado Rockies' system; he reached the Class-A Ashville Tourists of the South Atlantic League in 2016. Last season, he slashed .235/.316/.500 with three homers and seven RBIs in just nine games with the Low-A Boise Hawks.

Coming into the 2018 season, Piron has played 176 professional games at second base, 58 at shortstop, and 22 at third. He'll likely see time at all three for the Grizzlies this year.

Piron boasts impressive power for an infielder: 93 extra-base hits in 269 pro games (.425 SLG) in Colorado's system, but he also had 252 strikeouts against only 50 walks.
