Lannan enters his first season with the Ducks and 13th in professional baseball. He is a veteran of eight Major League seasons, including six with the Washington Nationals (2007-12), one with the Philadelphia Phillies (2013) and one with the New York Mets (2014). The southpaw has appeared in 153 MLB games (148 starts) and has compiled a record of 46-58 with a 4.18 ERA and 450 strikeouts in 862 innings of work. He posted career-bests in wins (10) and ERA (3.70) in 2011 with the Nationals while posting a career-high 117 strikeouts in 2008 and a career-high 206.1 innings in 2009.

The Long Island native (Long Beach) spent the 2016 season with Triple-A Omaha in the Kansas City Royals organization. He made 25 appearances (19 starts) with the Storm Chasers and went 7-8 with a 5.24 ERA in 132 and one-third innings. The 32-year-old was also in Spring Training this past March with the Nationals. Prior to his professoinal career, he played for Chaminade High School in Mineola, N.Y. and Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. Lannan was originally drafted by the Nationals in the 11th round of the 2005 amateur draft.
