Christian Herstine signed with the RailCats on July 4. He previously pitched for the RailCats in parts of the 2016 and 2017 seasons. In 2017, Herstine pitched three times in relief, posting a 9.00 ERA in 4.0 innings, walking 3 and striking out 5.

In 2016, Herstine had a 1.03 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 8.2 innings pitched (five appearances). Herstine was purchased from the RailCats by the New York Yankees in July, 2016, but did not make any appearances in the Yankees system. Herstine played his college baseball with Marietta College in Ohio where he received numerous all conference and all-region appearances. He originally hails from Beaver, Pennsylvania.
