Spurlin played four years at Northern Kentucky University. He hit .293 in his Career with the Norse, including a .448 slugging percentage and 108 total RBI's.
His sophomore season in 2014 was a standout year, he played in 47 games and had a batting average of .350 in 183 at bats, which led the team. He had 64 hits on the season including 4 homers and 16 doubles, and 32 RBI's. In 2016 as a senior he earned Second Team All-Horizon League as he hit .311 with 40 RBI's. He had 10 home runs his senior season which ended him at 21 in his Norse career, tying him for eigth all-time at NKU.
In the USPBL with the Birmingham Beavers, Spurlin has only played in 7 games and has a .143 average with a homer and 3 RBI.
