Matt Murphy comes to the Gulls organization after sitting this past season due to transferring to URI from Assumption College. While at Assumption, Murphy was an infielder, where he hit .290 in two seasons with the Greyhounds, while recording a .346 OBP, 78 hits, and 37 RBI. He will serve as a pitcher this summer for the Gulls and this upcoming season at URI.


Prior to Assumption College, Murphy attended Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, Rhode Island. While at Hendricken, he was part of the State Championship winning team in 2012. He is the son of Kevin and Theresa Murphy, and has one sister, Maggie.
