A magnificent effort by Brian Gump hoisted the San Rafael Pacifics (11-7) to a 12-1 win over the Hawaii Stars (9-9) on Sunday at Albert Park.
Gump held the Hawaii Stars scoreless for seven innings. Gump struck out five and allowed no walks and three hits.
The San Rafael Pacifics blew out the Hawaii Stars thanks to 14 hits, including zero extra base hits. The San Rafael Pacifics scored six runs in the sixth on an error, an RBI single by Matthew Alton, a single by Zack Pace, a two-run single by Darrick Hale, an RBI double by Tomochika Tsuboi, a double by Tsuboi, and a groundout by Johnny Woodard.
Steve Boggs boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 4-4 day at the plate to pace the San Rafael Pacifics. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the third, sixth, and seventh innings.
Ronnie Loeffler ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in five innings, walked none and struck out three.
