The Alaska Goldpanners (18-20) didn't have a chance on Sunday, as the Chugiak Chinooks (16-22) won in blowout fashion, 12-4 at Loretta French Field.
The Chugiak Chinooks scored four runs in the eighth on an error, a two-run double by Scott Kalamar, and an RBI double by Brent Fukushima.
Drew Turbin got a hit in each of his five at bats. He singled in the first, third, fourth, sixth, and eighth innings.
Alex Schmidt was hot from the plate for the Alaska Goldpanners. Schmidt went 1-1, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Clint Manzo recorded his third win of the year for the Chugiak Chinooks. He allowed four runs over six innings. Manzo struck out five, walked three and gave up seven hits.
Matt Milke was charged with his sixth loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
