A walk-off single from Joe Spiers brought home the winning run for the St Paul Saints (34-30) in a 4-3 victory over the Quebec Capitales in 11 innings at Midway Stadium on Friday.
Spiers racked up two RBIs on two hits for the St Paul Saints. He singled in the second and eleventh innings.
It was a good day at the plate for the St Paul Saints' Adam Frost. Frost went 3-5 and scored one run. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fifth and ninth innings.
The Quebec Capitales couldn't get anything going so long as Bret Severtson was on the hill. Severtson held the Quebec Capitales hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five.
Guillaume Leduc ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
