Gutierrez stars as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs defeat the Bridgeport Bluefish, 12-6

An excellent effort by Jesse Gutierrez spurred the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (52-56) to a 12-6 win over the Bridgeport Bluefish (50-57) on Tuesday at Harbor Yard.

Gutierrez rocked the Bridgeport Bluefish with two home runs. Gutierrez went 4-5 in the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Gutierrez homered in the second and eighth innings.

Everything was working at the plate for the the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the eighth. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs' bats caught fire leading to seven runs.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the eighth, with four lead changes.

Jim Ed Warden had an impressive outing against the Bridgeport Bluefish's lineup. The Bridgeport Bluefish managed just two hits off of Ed Warden, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his three innings of work.

Julio DePaula couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Bridgeport Bluefish, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
