Josh Walter was cold coming off the bench, but Walter warmed up quickly as Walter stroked a key pinch-hit single in the seven to lead the Camden Riversharks (35-36) to a 2-1 win over the Somerset Patriots (36-36) on Saturday at TD Bank Ballpark.
With the Camden Riversharks trailing by one in the seventh inning, Walter came to the plate and singled.
The Somerset Patriots jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Somerset Patriots led until the seventh inning, but the Camden Riversharks took the lead back on a two-run single by Eduardo Perez.
Perez racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Camden Riversharks. He singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
Zach Hammes pitched lights out for the Camden Riversharks. Hammes held the Somerset Patriots hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Mariano Gomez got the win, running his season record to 2-1. Gomez struck out one, walked none and gave up two hits.
T.J. Hose was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
