The Washington Wild Things seize victory thanks to late, drop the Joliet Slammers 7-2

The Washington Wild Things (42-51) and the Joliet Slammers (35-57) exchanged the lead four times on Thursday, but the Washington Wild Things ended up on top with a 7-2 win over the Joliet Slammers.

The Washington Wild Things finally managed to grab the lead after a strong third inning. And gave the Washington Wild Things the lead for good.

Shain Stoner rocked the Joliet Slammers with two home runs. Stoner went 2-4 in the game with two RBIs and two runs scored. Stoner homered in the second and third innings.

The Washington Wild Things got the win thanks in large part to Chris Smith's dominant, nine-strikeout performance. Smith allowed two earned runs, three hits and three walks over eight innings.

Kyle Maunus racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Joliet Slammers. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Matt Sommo (2-4) took the loss for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked one and struck out 11.
