The Normal CornBelters survive the Evansville Otters rally, escape with 5-3 victory

The Evansville Otters (35-37) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Normal CornBelters (23-49) on Tuesday, as the Evansville Otters fell 5-3 after falling behind by four runs in the eighth inning.

The Evansville Otters scored two runs in the ninth on a two-run single by DeAngelo Mack. Still, the Evansville Otters couldn't catch the Normal CornBelters.

Jovan Rosa was solid at the plate for the Normal CornBelters. Rosa went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the second inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Daniel Britt picked up the win for the Normal CornBelters. Britt pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out five.

Nick Schwaner was hot from the plate for the Evansville Otters. Schwaner went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth and ninth innings.

Garrett Bullock (3-6) took the loss for the Evansville Otters. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out 10, and allowed four runs.
