Saturday was a great day for Jeff Flagg, as he hit two home runs to carry the Traverse City Beach Bums (51-28) to a 12-2 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers (45-34) at Wuerfel Park.
Flagg racked up six RBIs on two hits for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He homered in the second and third innings and singled in the sixth inning.
The Traverse City Beach Bums blew out the Schaumburg Boomers thanks to 10 hits, including zero extra base hits. A three-run home run by Ryan Still and a solo home run by Jose Vargas helped the Traverse City Beach Bums score four runs in the fourth. The Traverse City Beach Bums had three hits in the inning.
Bennett Whitmore pitched lights out for the Traverse City Beach Bums. Whitmore held the Schaumburg Boomers hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.
The Schaumburg Boomers were led by Karexon Sanchez's hitting. Sanchez went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning.
Scott Dunn recorded his fifth win of the year for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out five, walked two and surrendered three hits.
Alex Rivers was charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in five innings, walked one and struck out six.
