Jose Vargas went 2-4 and hit a home run, helping the Traverse City Beach Bums (30-14) to a 6-2 victory over the Normal CornBelters (15-27) on Wednesday at Wuerfel Park.

Matt Miller brought the heat against the Normal CornBelters during his outing. The Normal CornBelters managed just two hits off of Miller, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his 3 2/3 innings of work.

Bennett Whitmore got the win, running his season record to 3-2. He allowed two runs over five innings. Whitmore struck out two, walked three and gave up two hits.

Jacob Liedka was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked five, struck out eight, and allowed five runs.
