An awesome effort by Jose Vargas lifted the Traverse City Beach Bums (29-14) to an 8-5 win over the Normal CornBelters (15-26) on Tuesday at Wuerfel Park.

Vargas rocked the Normal CornBelters with two home runs. Vargas went 4-5 in the game with five RBIs and three runs scored. Vargas homered in the fourth and fifth innings.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

Reid Kelly racked up seven strikeouts in the the Traverse City Beach Bums win. Kelly allowed two earned runs, seven hits and two walks over eight innings.

Tyler Lavigne (3-3) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked six and struck out seven.
