Early lead gives the Traverse City Beach Bums easy victory over the Washington Wild Things, 11-3

The Traverse City Beach Bums (26-12) jumped out to an early lead on the Washington Wild Things (14-23) and captured an 11-3 victory on Thursday at Wuerfel Park.

The game was decided quickly as the Traverse City Beach Bums exerted their will early with seven runs in the first three innings.

A three-run home run by Jose Vargas in the first inning and a two-run double by Ryan Still and a two-run double by Chase Burch during the second inning fueled the Traverse City Beach Bums' offense early.

Burch racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Traverse City Beach Bums.

Reid Kelly picked up the win for the Traverse City Beach Bums. Kelly allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out four over seven innings of work.

Andrew Heck was solid at the plate for the Washington Wild Things. Heck went 3-4 and drove in one. He singled in the first, third, and eighth innings.

Jhonny Montoya ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.
