The Schaumburg Boomers escape the Normal CornBelters behind Donovan's 7 strikeouts, 4-1

A magnificent effort by Robby Donovan led the Schaumburg Boomers (30-19) to a 4-1 win over the Normal CornBelters (16-31) on Friday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.

Donovan picked up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. Donovan pitched nine innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Jereme Milons helped the Schaumburg Boomers take the lead for good in the seventh inning. Drew Heithoff singled to start the seventh. He then went from first to third on a double by Mike Valadez. Finally, Milons came to the plate with the score tied at one in the seventh inning, and hit a sacrifice fly, plating Heithoff.

Jacob Liedka (1-5) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
