The Windy City ThunderBolts escape the Joliet Slammers behind Recchia's 11 strikeouts, 5-1

Mike Recchia hopes every outing could go as well as Thursday, as Recchia struck out 11 batters to carry the Windy City ThunderBolts (33-21) to a 5-1 victory over the Joliet Slammers (23-32) at Silver Cross Field.

Brandon Decker helped the Windy City ThunderBolts take the lead for good in the sixth inning. Chris Wade singled to start the sixth. He then went from first to second on a single by Chad Cregar. Finally, Decker came to the plate with the game scoreless in the sixth inning and hit a sacrifice fly, plating Wade.

Cregar paced the Windy City ThunderBolts at the plate. Cregar went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the sixth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Abel Nieves got on base two times in the game for the Joliet Slammers. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the ninth inning.

Steven Maxwell (5-6) took the loss for the Joliet Slammers. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
