The Gateway Grizzlies (28-25) beat the Joliet Slammers (23-30) 9-5 on Tuesday at Silver Cross Field behind Antone DeJesus, who had two extra base hits.

He doubled in the first inning, homered in the third inning, and singled in the ninth inning.

Jordan Cudney brought the heat against the Joliet Slammers during his outing. Cudney held the Joliet Slammers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Abel Nieves had two extra-base hits for the Joliet Slammers. He homered in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

JaVaun West improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Michal Perconte couldn't get it done on the bump for the Joliet Slammers, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked two and struck out three.

The Gateway Grizzlies' DeJesus, Rogelio Noris, Vladimir Frias and Jon Myers combined for 13 hits and eight RBIs.
