Steven Maxwell hopes every outing could go as well as Thursday, as Maxwell struck out six batters to carry the Joliet Slammers (15-17) to a 2-1 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers (20-12) at Silver Cross Field.
The Joliet Slammers held off the Schaumburg Boomers, as the Schaumburg Boomers were unable to overcome a two-run first inning deficit.
The Schaumburg Boomers scored one run in the eighth on a groundout by Marty Coyle. Unfortunately, the Schaumburg Boomers weren't able to take the lead back.
Cameron Roth was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just eight innings, walked four, struck out seven, and allowed two runs.
