Early lead gives the Schaumburg Boomers easy victory over the Joliet Slammers, 9-1

The Schaumburg Boomers (15-9) shut the door early on the Joliet Slammers (12-12), capturing a 9-1 victory on Wednesday at Silver Cross Field.

Six runs in the first three innings allowed the Schaumburg Boomers to put the game away early.

An RBI double by Frank Pfister and during the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Nick Kuroczko and a sacrifice fly by Kuroczko in the second inning fueled the Schaumburg Boomers' offense early.

Chad Mozingo had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.

The Schaumburg Boomers relied on Robbie Penny to eat up innings en route to the win. Penny pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out four.

Eric Binder was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
