The Gateway Grizzlies (20-20)'s seven first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 10-6 win over the Southern Illinois Miners (24-16) on Saturday at GCS Ballpark -- Sauget, IL.

Antone DeJesus racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He homered in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning.

The Southern Illinois Miners couldn't get anything going as long as Zac Treece was pitching. Treece held the Southern Illinois Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Jake Kaase racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Southern Illinois Miners. He homered in the fifth inning.

Patrick Arnold improved to 3-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered five hits.

Darrin Tew ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in two-thirds of an inning, walked three and struck out none.
