The Gateway Grizzlies fend off the Florence Freedom's late push, hold on 6-4

The Florence Freedom (21-16) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Gateway Grizzlies (18-19) on Wednesday, as the Florence Freedom fell 6-4 at Home of the Florence Freedom after falling behind by three runs in the sixth inning.

The Florence Freedom scored on a single by Jim Jacquot and a sacrifice fly by Drew Rundle in the sixth inning and an RBI single by David Harris in the seventh inning. Still, the Florence Freedom couldn't catch the Gateway Grizzlies.

Jerod Yakubik racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Zac Treece shut down the Florence Freedom while he was on the mound. Treece held the Florence Freedom hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Harris racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Florence Freedom.

Tim Brown improved to 4-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed four runs over six innings. Brown struck out three, walked one and gave up eight hits.

Daniel DeSimone couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Florence Freedom, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
