The Evansville Otters defeat the Joliet Slammers after late game single, 7-3

The Evansville Otters (30-37) and the Joliet Slammers (27-40) passed the lead back and forth five times on Tuesday at Bosse Field, but in the end the Evansville Otters pulled out a 7-3 win over the Joliet Slammers.

Runey Davis racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Evansville Otters. He singled in the fifth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

The Joliet Slammers had no answer for Wynn Pelzer, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Joliet Slammers managed just two hits off of Pelzer, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out three during his six innings of work.

Patrick Crider got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed two runs over two innings. Crider struck out two, walked two and gave up one hit.

Daniel Carela was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
