Three first-inning runs helped the Holyoke Blue Sox (10-13) to a 4-2 win over the North Adams SteepleCats (15-10) at Joe Wolfe Field on Sunday.

The Holyoke Blue Sox staved off the North Adams SteepleCats as the North Adams SteepleCats were unable to match the Holyoke Blue Sox down the stretch.

The North Adams SteepleCats scored two runs in the eighth on an RBI double by Bryan Soloman and an RBI single by Brett Clements. Still, the North Adams SteepleCats couldn't draw even.

Danny Diekroeger led the Holyoke Blue Sox's offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Scott Squier recorded his first win of the year for the Holyoke Blue Sox. He allowed two runs over 7 2/3 innings. Squier struck out 13, walked three and gave up eight hits.

Brian Hunter (0-1) took the loss for the North Adams SteepleCats. He lasted just six innings, walked five, struck out eight, and allowed four runs.
