The Florence Freedom (17-30) beat the Southern Illinois Miners (32-15) 5-3 in seven innings on Wednesday at UC Health Stadium behind Andrew Godbold, who went 2-3 and hit a home run.
He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.The Southern Illinois Miners' lineup had no answer for Davis Adkins. Adkins held the Southern Illinois Miners hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Brooks Trujillo ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
