The Schaumburg Boomers (6-11) beat the Florence Freedom (5-11) 8-3 on Wednesday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium behind Dusty Robinson, who went 2-3.

Derek DeYoung pitched lights out for the Schaumburg Boomers. DeYoung held the Florence Freedom hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

The Florence Freedom were led by Taylor Oldham's hitting. Oldham went 2-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the first and fifth innings.

Scott Schultz got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed three runs over six innings. Schultz struck out three, walked three and gave up six hits.

Brandon Bargas couldn't get it done on the hill for the Florence Freedom, taking a loss. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
