The Normal CornBelters offense too much for the Joliet Slammers in 16-1 rout

Story by Narrative Science.

The Normal CornBelters (2-1) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Joliet Slammers (1-3), recording a 16-1 victory on Sunday at The Corn Crib.

The game was decided quickly as the Normal CornBelters exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings.

A sacrifice fly by Aaron Dudley during the first inning and an RBI single by Ty Morris, an RBI single by Morris, an RBI single by Mike Fish, an error, and a two-run home run by Dudley in the second inning fueled the Normal CornBelters' offense early.

Fish racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Normal CornBelters.

The Joliet Slammers couldn't get anything going as long as Michael Schweiss was pitching. The Joliet Slammers managed just three hits off of Schweiss, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out four during his five innings of work.

Charlie White got on base two times in the game for the Joliet Slammers. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the first inning.

Luke Crumley (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked two and struck out none.
