Both the Gateway Grizzlies (26-28) and the Lake Erie Crushers (24-26) put runners aboard on Friday, but it was the Gateway Grizzlies that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 3-2 win at GCS Ballpark.
Seth Heck had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first and third innings.
Corey Kimes baffled the Lake Erie Crushers, striking out six batters. Kimes allowed two earned runs, five hits and four walks over six innings.
Sean Hurley had a hot bat for the Lake Erie Crushers. Hurley went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the seventh inning.
JaVaun West got the win, running his season record to 1-3. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Stetson Nelson was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
