Zane Gelphman had two extra base hits, sparking the South Bay Storm (22-17) to a 9-6 victory over the Sacramento Heat (13-25) on Saturday at McAuliffe Field.
He singled in the second inning, doubled in the third inning, and tripled in the fifth inning.Even though Michael Valdes allowed six runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory, his first of the season. Valdes struck out 10, walked two and gave up 11 hits.
Donnie Gardiner (2-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked four and struck out three.
The South Bay Storm's Anthony Lim, Connor Fabing, Gelphman and Jason Marley combined for 10 hits and four RBIs.
