A magnificent effort by Tyler Vail carried the Evansville Otters (23-18) to a 5-2 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts (22-18) on Tuesday at Bosse Field.
Vail kept contact to a minimum, striking out 11 the Windy City ThunderBolts batters. Vail allowed two earned runs, four hits and one walk over nine innings.
Josh Allen blasted two home runs for the Evansville Otters. Allen went 4-4 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Allen homered in the third and seventh innings.
Corey Bass racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Windy City ThunderBolts. He homered in the second inning.
Jake Fisher was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out nine, and allowed four runs.
