Offenses dominate as the Normal CornBelters outscore the Florence Freedom 13-8

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Sunday as the Normal CornBelters (17-24) outscored the Florence Freedom (14-26) 13-8.

The teams totaled 28 hits in the game.

Aaron Dudley racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Normal CornBelters. He singled in the third inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and homered in the fifth inning.

Francisco Carrillo brought the heat against the Florence Freedom during his outing. The Florence Freedom managed just one hit off of Carrillo, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.

Andrew Godbold had three extra-base hits for the Florence Freedom. He doubled in the first and third innings and homered in the fifth inning.

Even though Max Homick allowed seven runs over five innings he still recorded the victory, his fourth of the season. Homick struck out three, walked four and gave up seven hits.

Cody Gray ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked one and struck out three.

The Normal CornBelters easily handled the Florence Freedom pitching as six hitters combined for 14 hits, 12 RBIs and nine runs scored.
