Early lead not enough for the Midwest Haymakers, drop 2-1 decision to the Toronto Rush

The Midwest Haymakers (1-1) built an early edge on Saturday, but the Toronto Rush (2-1) roared back to steal a 2-1 victory at Palm Springs Stadium.

While the Midwest Haymakers led until the fifth inning, the Toronto Rush worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Byron Reichstein.

Jalen Harris put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Toronto Rush. He doubled in the third inning and tripled in the fifth inning.

Kyle Kennett had an impressive outing against the Midwest Haymakers' lineup. The Midwest Haymakers managed just one hit off of Kennett, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out six during his three innings of work.

Kawagashi Haruki pitched lights out for the Midwest Haymakers. Haruki held the Toronto Rush hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two.

Kevin Wirth recorded his first win of the year for the Toronto Rush. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Daniel Katynski ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
