Three first-inning runs helped the Southern Illinois Miners (26-12) to a 10-7 win over the River City Rascals (19-18) at CarShield Field on Thursday.
The Southern Illinois Miners scored in the first on an error, an RBI double by Nolan Earley, and an RBI double by Vin Guglietti.
Earley put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Southern Illinois Miners.
Jason Merjano had two extra-base hits for the River City Rascals. He doubled in the first and fifth innings.
Josh Kimborowicz got the win, running his season record to 5-0. He allowed four runs over five innings. Kimborowicz struck out three, walked two and gave up seven hits.
Joe Scanio was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
