The Joliet Slammers (19-14) shut the door early on the Schaumburg Boomers (16-16), capturing a 9-1 victory on Saturday at Silver Cross Field.

A two-run single by Casey Fletcher, a solo home run by Phillip Bates, and a two-run home run by Bates in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Joliet Slammers.Carter Bell had two extra-base hits for the Joliet Slammers. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the sixth inning.
The Schaumburg Boomers had no answer for Shane Bryant, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Schaumburg Boomers managed just one hit off of Bryant, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out two during his six innings of work.
Scott Schultz (2-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked one and struck out one.
