The Gateway Grizzlies (7-6) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 4-3 ballgame against the Florence Freedom (5-7) on Friday at GCS Ballpark.

Isaac Wenrich went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for the Florence Freedom. He singled in the second and fifth innings.
The Gateway Grizzlies had no answer for Ethan Gibbons, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Gibbons held the Gateway Grizzlies hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Patrick McGrath got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out eight, walked two and surrendered eight hits.
