The Columbia Basin best the Spokane in shootout, 14-8

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Saturday as the Columbia Basin (16-3) outscored the Spokane (11-6) 14-8.

The teams totaled 28 hits in the game.

The Columbia Basin stamped out any hope for the Spokane with five runs in the eighth. The Columbia Basin scored in the eighth on , a two-run single by Anthony Gosline, a two-run single by Zack Chamberlain, and a single by Brendan McClary.

Michael Wyatt got on base five times in the game for the Columbia Basin. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the first and sixth innings.

The Spokane had no answer for Nick Crawford, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Spokane managed just one hit off of Crawford, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.

Tanner Simpson improved to 5-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Columbia Basin. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out six, walked four and surrendered six hits.

Kade Woods ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
