First-inning rally sparks blowout win for the Columbia Basin, 16-1

A nine-run explosion in the first inning spurred the Columbia Basin (7-0) to a 16-1 win in seven innings over the Clackamas at Columbia Basin Baseball Field on Saturday.

The Columbia Basin scored in the first on an error, an RBI single by Isaiah Hatch, a three-run double by Damon Nester, an RBI single by Michael Wyatt, an RBI single by Wyatt, an error, an RBI triple by Colton Kelly, and a fielder's choice.

Wyatt racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Columbia Basin.

The Clackamas (2-3) couldn't get anything going as long as Tanner Roundy was pitching. Roundy gave up just one hit, allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out six during his five innings of work.

AK Nielsen (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 13 runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out two.

The Columbia Basin easily handled the Clackamas pitching as eight hitters combined for 17 hits, 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
