Both the White Sands Pupfish (10-7) and the Alpine Cowboys (9-8) put runners aboard on Thursday, but it was the White Sands Pupfish that were able to take advantage, pulling out an 8-7 win at Griggs Park.
Wesley Wallace put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the White Sands Pupfish. He tripled in the second inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the first and fifth innings.
Derrick Fox paced the Alpine Cowboys at the plate. Fox went 3-6, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first, fifth, and eighth innings.
David Steele Jr. improved to 3-0 on the year by picking up the win for the White Sands Pupfish. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out eight, walked one and surrendered 10 hits.
Josh Cruse (1-2) took the loss for the Alpine Cowboys. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked two and struck out four.
