David Kubiak tossed a shutout to lift the Joliet Slammers (40-53) to a 2-0 win over the Lake Erie Crushers (38-54) at All Pro Freight Stadium.
Kubiak held the Lake Erie Crushers scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on five hits while ringing up seven.
Jeremy Nowak had a hot bat for the Joliet Slammers. Nowak went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second innings and doubled in the fourth inning.
Brad Duffy couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Lake Erie Crushers, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out eight, and allowed two runs.
