A great effort by Kramer Champlin carried the Traverse City Beach Bums (44-29) to a 7-0 win over the River City Rascals on Thursday at Wuerfel Park.

Champlin held the River City Rascals (42-34) scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out four.

The offense exploded for the the Traverse City Beach Bums in the fifth. In the inning the Traverse City Beach Bums scored four runs. The Traverse City Beach Bums scored in the fifth on a two-run single by Alex Tomasovich, a two-run single by Tomasovich, and a two-run single by Jay Austin.

Tomasovich racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Traverse City Beach Bums.

Dane Stone couldn't get it done on the hill for the River City Rascals, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
