Phillip Bates went 2-5, sparking the Joliet Slammers (30-43) to a 3-2 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies (27-45) on Tuesday at GCS Ballpark.

Luke Crumley brought the heat against the Gateway Grizzlies during his outing. Crumley gave up just two hits, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out seven during his five innings of work.

Seth Heck racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He singled in the fourth inning.

Vincent Molesky ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
