Five first-inning runs helped the Traverse City Beach Bums (40-26) to a 5-4 win over the Washington Wild Things (29-40) at Wuerfel Park on Thursday.
The Traverse City Beach Bums relied on Luis DeJesus to eat up innings en route to the win. DeJesus pitched seven innings and allowed three earned runs, five hits and two walks while striking out five.
The Washington Wild Things were led by Matt Peters's hitting. Peters went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the ninth inning.
Matt Fraudin (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
