A six-run explosion in the second inning spurred the Evansville Otters (39-19) to an 8-1 win over the Washington Wild Things (25-33) at Bosse Field on Friday.

The Evansville Otters scored in the second on , , , a single by Dane Phillips, , and a two-run double by Jeremy Nowak.

Phillips racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Evansville Otters.

Trevor Walch picked up the win for the Evansville Otters. Walch pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, eight hits and two walks while striking out five.

The Evansville Otters couldn't get anything going so long as Kolin Stanley was on the hill. The Evansville Otters managed just one hit off of Stanley, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his two innings of work.

Matt Sergey was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
