The Gateway Grizzlies get on top of the Evansville Otters early but can't hang on in 5-4 loss

The Gateway Grizzlies (17-34) built an early edge on Wednesday, but the Evansville Otters (34-18) roared back to steal a 5-4 victory at Bosse Field.

A two-run double by Nik Balog gave the Evansville Otters the lead in the fifth inning.

Balog got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the second and third innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Connor Little pitched lights out for the Evansville Otters. Little held the Gateway Grizzlies hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Grant Buckner racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the third inning.

Tyler Thompson was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed five runs.

The Evansville Otters were sparked by Balog and Shayne Houck, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.
