The Washington Wild Things make the most of 9 hits in 6-4 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies

Both the Washington Wild Things (6-8) and the Gateway Grizzlies (4-11) put runners aboard on Saturday, but it was the Washington Wild Things that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 6-4 win at GCS Ballpark.

David Popkins racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Washington Wild Things. He homered in the first inning.

Richie Mirowski brought the heat against the Gateway Grizzlies during his outing. Mirowski held the Gateway Grizzlies hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Despite the loss, the Gateway Grizzlies' Scott Harkin dominated the Washington Wild Things' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out five.

Ernesto Zaragoza improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Washington Wild Things. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered five hits.

Max Schonfeld (0-1) took the loss for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.
