Six first-inning runs helped the Alpine Cowboys (47-20) to an 8-3 win over the Roswell Invaders (38-26) on Saturday.
The Alpine Cowboys scored in the first on a solo home run by Collin Forgey, a two-run double by Matt Henrickson, an RBI single by Billy Crowe, an RBI single by Noah Piard, and an RBI double by Forgey.
Forgey had two extra-base hits for the Alpine Cowboys.
Piard brought the heat against the Roswell Invaders during his outing. The Roswell Invaders managed just three hits off of the the Alpine Cowboys' pitcher, who allowed two earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his 5 2/3 innings of work.
Joe Miller was hot from the plate for the Roswell Invaders. Miller went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Chris Dunn (6-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in two-thirds of an inning, walked two and struck out one.
The Alpine Cowboys' Forgey, Crowe, Henrickson and Brian Milliman combined for eight hits and seven RBIs.
